Ads Bounce Back with 4-0 Win

Grand Rapids, MI--Goalie Magnus Hellberg stopped 26 shots and Colton Sissons scored twice to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 4-0 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins Saturday night.

The shutout was Hellberg’s third of the season and 10th in his Admirals career. The 10 shutouts ties him with Pekka Rinne and Chris Mason on the Admirals all-time lis

t.

Brian Finley is the leader with 15.

The win allowed Milwaukee to finish the month of January with a 10-2-0-0 record.

The Admirals needed only 1:24 to take a lead. Milwaukee was on an early power play after Griffins defenseman Nathan Putsch was sent to the penalty box at :47 for slashing.

Off an offensive zone faceoff, Colton Sissons won a draw in the left circle to Brendan Leipsic. Leipsic tapped the puck to the middle of the b

lue line for defenseman Taylor Aronson to shoot. Aronson’s low shot was deflected between the legs of Griffins net miner Jonas Gustavsson by Sissons. The goal was Sissons’ 13th of the season, sixth on the power play. Aronson and Leipsic recorded the assists.

The Admirals claimed a 2-0 lead at 2:02 of the second period. Austin Watson drove the puck to the net but had it poked off his stick as he reached the bottom of the left circle. He corralled the loose puck and set up behind Gustavsson. He then slid a pass to the bottom of the right circle for a Pontus Aberg shot a

nd goal. It was Aberg’s 15th tally of the season. Watson and Anthony Bitetto notched the helpers.

Sissons’ second goal of the game gave Milwaukee a 3-0 lead at 18:28 of the second period. Just as the Ads second pow

er play ca

me to an end, Aronson’s

shot from the point was deflected by Sissons for his 14th goal of the year. Aronson and Viktor Arvidsson had the assists.

Milwaukee posted a season-high 18 shots on goal in the second period.

The Griffins pulled their goalie with 7:26 remaining. The Ad

mirals took advantage as defenseman Ian White floated the puck from the blue line in front of the Admirals bench into the empty net. The goal, scored with 6:53 left in the game, was White’s first goal as an Admiral.

Milwaukee’s returns to the BMO Harris Bradley Center to host Lake Erie Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 7 pm.
