Milwaukee, WI – The Admirals lost in a 3-0 shutout against the Utica Comets on Friday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
During the first period both goalies stayed strong making it impossible for either team to find the back of the net. The Utica Comets were in favor of shots over the Admirals 10-8.
The Comets got on the board just 3:55 into the second period when defenseman Alex Biega took the puck to the point and passed it to Darren Archibald at the left circle, which allowed him to get a slap shot in past goaltender Marek Mazanec. Just over five minutes later Kent Huskins was met with a pass from Colin Stuart at the left faceoff dot giving him a clear shot at Mazanec.
With just 4:59 left in the second period Archibald skated across the blue line to find the puck passed backwards from Jeremy Welsh giving him a line drive into the net bringing the score up 3-0 with the Admirals trailing far behind.
Unfortunately the Comets were able to hold off the Admirals during the third period. Mazanec held off the remaining eight shots they took bringing the final shot score 31-21. The 3-0 final score is the first time that the Admirals have been shut out at home this year. The last time this happened at home was on March 27, 2013 against the Lake Erie Monsters.
The Admirals continue their five-game home-streak on Sunday afternoon when they host their Amtrak Rivals, the Chicago Wolves at 1:00pm.
