Ads Edge Wolves in Shootout
Rosemont, IL- Goalie Magnus Hellberg stopped 22 shots in regulation and three shots in a shootout to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 3-2 shootout win over the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena Saturday night.
The shootout win was Hellberg’s second of the season, both against Chicago. He has stopped eight of ten in those shootout victories. The win was his 11th of the season.
Brad Winchester tied the game at two when he hacked the puck between the right post and the left skate of Matt Climie for his fourth goal of the season at 15:56 of the third. Matt Halischuk and Chris Mueller recorded the assists.
The game was scoreless until Chicago finally struck first in the second period. Andrew Ebbett converted a 2-on-1 rush with Darren Archibald for his 11th goal of the season at 12:55 of the second period.
The Admirals tied the game with a power play goal at 16:11 of the second period. Defenseman Mike Moore held the zone at the right point. He passed left to Juuso Puustinen who fired a low wrist shot on goal. The rebound bounced to Cam Reid who buried the puck with a backhander for his third goal of the season and first AHL power play goal.
The Wolves tied the game with a power play goal at 18:47 of the second period. Andrew Gordon roofed a rebound of a Darren Haydar shot into the net for his 15th goal of the season.
In the shootout, Puustinen, Halischuk and Daniel Bang scored.
Milwaukee is now 13-8-0-1 when scoring a power play goal. The win was Milwaukee’s fifth when trailing after two periods. Three of those wins have been against the Wolves.
The Admirals return to the BMO Harris Bradley Center Wednesday for a 7pm tilt against Peoria.
