Ads Shut Out Rampage

Goalie Connor Ingram stopped 25 shots to earn his second shutout of the season as the Milwaukee Admirals defeated the San Antonio Rampage 3-0 Sunday at the AT&T Center.

Milwaukee won its 40th game of the season. The Admirals own the best record in the American Hockey League at 40-14-5-3. The Admirals reached 40 wins for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

Ingram was busy in the first period, stopping 11 Rampage shots. He had to face only five in the third frame. Ingram improved to 21-5-5 on the season.

After a scoreless first period, Milwaukee broke through with the only goal, of the second period. The puck pinball at neutral ice and found its way to Tommy Novak’s stick at the Admirals blue line. Novak slapped a pass to the Rampage line for Daniel Carr. Frederick Gaudreau jumped into the play for a 2-on-1 break. Carr skated to the left circle and snapped a shot over the glove of San Antonio netminder Ville Husso at 11:21. It was Carr’s team-leading 22nd goal of the season. Novak earned the only assist.

Eeli Tolvanen scored a pair of goals in the third period to up his season total to 20. Tolvanen’s first goal was scored from the slot and was assisted by Ben Harpur and Tanner Jeannot. That goal came at 14:07 of the third period.

Tolvanen scored a power play goal into an empty net with :31 remaining. Carr and Cole Schneider had the helpers.

Milwaukee now has four players (Carr, Rem Pitlick, Yakov Trenin and Tolvanen) with 20 goals. It’s the first time the Ads have had four 20-goal scorers since the 2007-08 season (Antti Pihlstrom, Matt Ellison, Josh Langfeld and Mike Santorelli).

Milwaukee returns home to host San Antonio at UWM Panther Arena Wed., Mar. 11.
