Cedar Park, TX--Goalie Jack Campbell stopped 36 shots to lead the Texas Stars to a 6-2 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday night.

The loss was the fifth in a row for the Admirals (0-4-1-0), which outshot Texas 38-24. Milwaukee is 0-3-1-0 on its current six-game road trip.

The Stars scored on the team’s first shot on goal at 9:11 of the first period. Brendan Ranford lifted a backhander from the bottom of the right circle inside the left post for his 14th goal of the season.

The Admirals needed less than a minute to tie the score. Pontus Aberg sprung Viktor Arvidsson for a partial breakaway. As pressure caught up to Arvidsson, he fired a low shot that beat Stars goalie Jack Campbell. Arvidsson’s 19th goal of the season was scored at 10:09.

Former Admirals forward Kevin Henderson reclaimed the lead for Texas at 10:58 of the first period when he buried the rebound of a Branden Troock shot into the net for his fourth goal of the year.

Another former Admiral, Scott Valentine, gave the Stars a 3-1 lead when he finished a rush to the net at 4:30 of the second period.

The Stars Scott Glennie scored a goal at 5:19 of the second period to make it 4-1 for Texas and Ranford scored his second of the game at 19:54 to give the Stars a 5-1 lead after two periods.

Magnus Hellberg replaced Mazanec to start the third and saw the first shot against him hit the back of the net. Derek Hulak was the recipient of a turnover and fired a quick shot into the net at :17 of the third period.

Arvidsson scored his second of the game with a shot from the left circle that caromed off the right post and in for his 20th goal of the season. Aberg recorded the lone assist.

The Admirals continue the road trip at Oklahoma City Tues., Mar. 17.

Milwaukee returns to the BMO Harris Bradley Center to host Texas Sat, Mar. 21 at 7pm.
