Ads Earn Point, Fall in OT to Monsters
Cleveland, OH--Goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 30 shots to lead the Lake Erie Monsters to a 2-1 overtime win over the Milwaukee Admirals Tuesday night.
The Admirals lost its sixth straight game, although the team did earn a point in the standings. Milwaukee is
now in seventh place in the Western Conference with 76 points, one p
oint ahead of the Chicago Wolves and Hamilton Bulldogs.
Pickard, the younger brother of former Admirals goalie Chet, improved to 8-2-1 in his career against Milwaukee.
Defenseman Cody Corbett scored the game-winner at 4:42 of overtime. He received a pass at the left point from Ben Street. Corbett moved toward the goal and unleashed a wrist shot that beat Ads goalie Marek Mazanec for the win.
Mazanec entered the game in the middle of the second period to relieve Magnus Hellberg who left the game with a minor injury. Hellberg stopped 13 of 14 shots. Mazanec turned aside 15 of 16.
The Monsters scored the first goal of the game when Andrew Agozzino deflected a Bruno Gervais shot into the net for his 23rd goal of the season at 3:46 of the first period.
The Admirals tied the game at 10:01 of the third period when Gary Steffes redirected a Colton Sissons pass in
to the net for a power play goal. It was Steffes’ second goal with the Ads. Both of his goals have been scored on the power play.
Sissons and Taylor Aronson recorded the assists.
The Admirals will play Wednesday in Cleveland against the Lake Erie Monsters. Milwaukee returns to the BMO
Harris Bradley Center to host Texas Fri., Apr. 3 at 7pm.
