Admirals Storm Past Wild
Taylor Beck scored a pair of goals helping to lead the Ads to a victory over the Iowa Wild 4-1 on Friday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
With another two points earned for tonight's win, the Admirals lowered their magic number to qualify for the post-season to eight points.
The Ads were off to a strong start with a goal from Beck early into the first period at 5:46. Beck skated right around Iowa defenseman, Dylan Labbe, and with a wrist shot from the near face off dot, banked the puck in off the post and gave the Ads the lead at 1-0.
Things started to heat up on the ice during second period. Vinny Saponari fed Francis Wathier the puck, who scored on a on timer for a power play goal to strengthen the Ads lead 2-0.
Iowa responded when Zack Phillips shot one past Darling, the puck found the back of the net at 15:41 and put Iowa on the board 2-1. However, with 17 seconds to go in the second period Filip Forsberg answered back. Beck faked the wind up, passed it to Forsberg and scored from the left dot for another power play goal and a lead of 3-1.
Third period consisted of a second goal from Beck. The puck came to Bryan Rodney in the high slot, who then passed it to Beck at the left circle, and put it past Johan Gustafsson at 4:06 to solidify the Admirals win 4-1.
Beck came away with a three point game tonight, tallying two goals and an assist, as did Wathier with a goal and two assists. Rodney also brought in two assists.
