Admirals Drop Second Straight to Rockford

Milwaukee, WI– The Admirals lost to the Rockford IceHogs 4-3 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center Friday night. Rockford was fueled by Rotislav Olesz’s two third period goal performance.

The Admirals struck early on as birthday boy Juuso Puustinen scored a power play goal at 4:14 in the first period. Just seconds after Rockford’s Martin St. Pierre was sent to the box Admirals forward Austin Watson skated hard at the net and found Puustinen waiting backdoor for a one timer.

The IceHogs tied up at 12:39 off of a St. Pierre goal. The puck was loose in front of the net for a few moments until it landed on St. Pierre’s stick who then wristed it past Admirals netminder Magnus Hellberg.

Rockford tacked on another goal before the end of the first period when Ryan Stanton fired a pass toward goal and it deflected off of Milwaukee defenseman Joonas Jarvinen.  The deflection caught Hellberg out of position and the puck found the back of the net.

Milwaukee squared it up at two with 2:54 left in the second frame off a Daniel Bang goal. Puustinen settled the puck at the bottom of the left circle and passed it across the face of the net to a wide-open Bang who slapped it past Rockford goalie Karlsson.

Rockford hopped back on-top with 11:27 left in regulation off of an Olesz goal. The IceHogs possessed the puck in the offensive zone and had multiple chances, and finally beat Hellberg when Olesz found an opening glove side.

The Ads tied it up less than five minutes later when Milwaukee defenseman turned left winger Scott Valentine found the back of the net. The play began with a Valentine shot that bounced off IceHogs' goalie Henrik Karlsson to Ads forward Josh Shalla whose shot came back to Valentine. Gathering the puck Valentine fired a shot while falling down and put it into an open Rockford net.

Going with the theme of back-and-forth Rockford retook the lead with 8:33 left in the period off Olesz’s second goal of the game.

The Admirals are back in action tomorrow night and Sunday afternoon against the Charlotte Checkers at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

The team returns to Milwaukee next Saturday, April 13 against the Rockford IceHogs.
