Admirals Look to Sew Up Playoff Spot
Milwaukee, WI--The Milwaukee Admirals look to punch their ticket to the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs with a win in regulation tomorrow afternoon when the team hosts the Peoria Rivermen in a special 1:00 pm matinee contest at the Bradley Center.
The Admirals currently lead the Rivermen by three points in the West Division in the race for the final post-season berth. With a game in hand on Peoria, the Ads magic number to clinch a playoff spot is four, meaning any combination of points earned by Milwaukee or points not earned by the Rivermen that equals four will give the Admirals that last spot. Thus, for the team to clinch tomorrow the Ads need to win in regulation. If Milwaukee wins in overtime or a shoot-out then they would need to earn a point in one of their remaining three games this week to secure their ninth consecutive playoff appearance.
The Admirals and Rivermen have faced off nine times so far this season, with the Ads posting a 3-2-1-3 record in those contests, including a 6-5 OT loss last Friday night at the Bradley Center. The home ice advantage hasn’t been too prevalent when these two teams hit the ice. Milwaukee has yet to win at game at home this season against the Rivermen, going 0-1-1-2 in the first four games, while in Peoria the Admirals went 3-1-0-1 on the year.
Tuesday’s game is also the Admirals first ever “Senior Skip Day,” where fans 50 and older can receive a Stern & Bow ticket and a popcorn or soda for just $10.
