Admirals See Highest Attendance Since 01-02
Milwaukee, WI—For the second consecutive season the Milwaukee Admirals saw an increase in attendance at their games for the 2009-10 campaign, which concluded on Sunday afternoon in front of 8,219 fans at the Bradley Center. Total attendance for the year was 241,073, an average of 6,027 fans per game, which was good for eighth place in the American Hockey League, the highest that the Admirals have ever finished in the AHL since joining in 2001-02.
“We are grateful to our fans and the entire community for all of their generous support this season,” said Admirals Governor/CEO Harris Turer. “Our entire organization has worked very hard to provide a great family entertainment experience at an affordable price. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Bradley Center for the playoffs.”
The Admirals saw a 2.6% increase in attendance over the 2008-09 season in spite of the fact that the Ads played fewer weekend dates this season than last. In the past two years paid attendance has grown by 9.2%, making Milwaukee just one of six teams in the AHL to see consecutive seasons of attendance growth. Since Turer purchased the team following the 2004-05 campaign attendance is up over 22%.
The Admirals largest crowd of the season came on March 13th when the team drew 15,253 fans, which was slightly more than the 15,101 who came to the Bradley Center on February 27. Over all, the Admirals had six crowds that were over 10,000, the most crowds of 10,000 or more in one year since the 2000-01 season. Beginning December 28th and running through the end of the season the Admirals averaged 6,774 fans per game and over the team’s final 13 games the Ads drew over 7,000 fans per game.
On the ice, Milwaukee now sets its sight on the Calder Cup Playoffs where they will square off with the Chicago Wolves in West Division Semifinals. Game one of the series will take place on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm at the All-State Arena. The Ads will host games three and four on Saturday, April 17 at 7:00 and Monday, April 19 at 7:00 pm respectively.
