Ads Drop Game, Series to Heat

Milwaukee, WI—The Milwaukee Admirals battled back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the score, but a power-play goal by Abbotsford Heat forward Dustin Sylvester in the third period broke the deadlock as Heat topped the Admirals 4-2 on Wednesday night. The loss ends puts an end to the Ads season as they are swept by the Heat three games to none.

With Admirals forward Taylor Beck in the box for delay of game, Sylvester took a drop pass from Ben Walter and sent a missile over the right shoulder of Milwaukee netminder Jeremy Smith to break the tie with 11:13 to play in the final stanza.

Milwaukee had a number of good opportunites during the remainder of the third, but Heat netminder Danny Taylor shut the door on the Ads, denying them the tying score

Former Admiral Hugh Jessiman opened the scoring for the Heat as he was able to deflect a backhand attempt by Greg Nemisz past Smith at the 2:10 mark of the first period, just one second following the conclusion of an Admirals penalty.

That was all the damage the Heat would inflict in spite of outshooting the Admirals 16-8 in the first and having four power-play opportunities.

Abbotsford went up 2-0 with a power-play marker by Clay Wilson at 6:18 of the second. Admiral killer Krys Kolanos held the puck behind the net and sent it out to Wilson on the top of the right circle. Wilson ripped a slapper that beat Smith top shelf.

Kyle Wilson cut the Heat lead in half a 2-1 with 3:34 to play in the second period. With the Ads on the power play, Wilson took a pass from Teemu Laakso and walked the puck down to the top of the circle where he fired a wrister that beat Taylor 5-hole for his first of the post-season.

With the Ads on another power-play, Victor Bartley tied the score at two when ripped a shot from the blue line that found its way through traffic and over the shoulder of Taylor.

An empty-netter by Abbotsford’sWilson gave the final score of 4-2
