Ads Hold Advantage Over Aeros
Milwaukee, WI— After taking game three in Houston 5-3 on Tuesday, the Milwaukee Admirals now hold a two games to one advantage over the Houston Aeros in the best-of-seven West Division Finals.
The Admirals jumped out to an early lead in the series by winning 3-1 at home on April 29, before suffering just their fourth shutout in 88 games this season, losing 2-0 in game two on May 1. The Ads responded to the shutout scoring five goals in game three, behind a three point (1g-2a) night for Steve Begin.
Begin (2g-3a) has paced all Milwaukee skaters in this second round by notching his first multiple-point games of the season in games one and three. Prior to scoring in game one, the 2001 AHL Playoff MVP’s last goal came on November 28th in San Antonio. The Ads have also received production from Ryan Thang throughout the first three games as he has four points on two goals and two assists.
Milwaukee netminder Jeremy Smith continues to be the backbone of the Ads defense as he has registered a .938 save percentage along with a 1.93 goals against average during the postseason. Smith, who won the Kelly Cup MVP with Cincinnati last season, has kept the Ads in every game as Milwaukee is 5-2 when holding their opponent under 3 goals.
The Admirals are guaranteed at least one more home game during the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs. If the Ads win their next two games in Houston they will advance to the Western Conference Finals, where they will hold home-ice advantage from winning the regular season conference title. If the Aeros were to win game four or five, or both, the series will return to the Bradley Center for game six scheduled for this Sunday May 8 at 5 pm.
Viewing parties are scheduled for the two remaining games in Houston on Thursday May 5 at 7:35 pm at Buck Bradley's and Friday May 6 at 7:05pm at Major Goolsby's. All viewing parties are free to attend and fans will receive a raffle ticket upon entry for a chance to win great Admirals prizes.
