Lambert Leaving Admirals for Nashville

Milwaukee, WI—Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that Lane Lambert, formerly the head coach of the Milwaukee Admirals, will join the Nashville coaching staff as an assistant for the 2011-12 season.

In four seasons at the helm of the Admirals ship, Lambert accumulated a 178-103-11-28 record and 395 points. During the 2010-11 regular season he led the Admirals to the regular season title for both the West Division and Western Conference with 102 points on a 44-22-6-8 mark. This year the Ads also became the first franchise in the American Hockey League’s 75-year history to post eight consecutive seasons of 90 or more points and 40 or more wins.

“This is certainly a well deserved promotion for Lane and I have no doubt that he will find continued success with the Predators,” said Admirals Governor/CEO Harris Turer. “Not only has he been responsible for getting the most out of our players on the ice, he has also helped to mold high-character people off of it and we are truly grateful for both.”

Milwaukee qualified for the playoffs in each of his seasons as head coach and they collected the second-most points in the Western Conference during his tenure behind the bench. During the 2008-09 season the Admirals tied for the most points in the league with 107 and also claimed the West Division regular season title.

The Melfort, SK native finishes his career tied for second in franchise history in games coached (320), and third in wins (178). He is also second in playoff games (38) and playoff wins (19) and is just one of two Admirals coaches to collect a winning record in the post-season.

Under Lambert’s tutelage, the Admirals have seen 25 players suit up for both the Admirals and the Predators including 11 players last year alone, while 17 of the 33 players to skate in a game for Nashville this season played under his guidence.

“Lane is one of the best young up-and-coming coaches in the sport today,” Poile said. “Similar to our philosophy on player development, we believe in promoting from within whenever possible. Lane has successfully coached and mentored more than half the players on our current roster, and many more who are coming through the pipeline, so he will fit seamlessly into Barry Trotz’s staff.”

Prior to joining the Admirals as an assistant for Claude Noel in the 2006-07 season, Lambert served as an assistant with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers for one year and was head coach of the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League from 2003-05. He completed a successful 18-year playing career with the Houston Aeros in 2001.

The search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

Season tickets for the 2011-12 season are on sale now for as little as $135. For more information, or to purchase season tickets, fans should call the Admirals office at (414) 227-0550. Don’t forget to follow the Admirals on Twitter (@mkeadmirals) and on Facebook!
