Preds Sign Maz to Two-Way Deal
Milwaukee, WI—Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed goaltender Marek Mazanec to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2017-18 season.
Mazanec appeared in four games for Nashville during the 2016-17 campaign and saw action in 47 contests with Milwaukee of the AHL. The 6-foot-4, 202-pound native of Pisek, Czech Republic posted a 27-17-1 record with the Admirals last season with a 2.65 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. In 31 career NHL appearances, Mazanec owns an 8-13-4 record with a 2.97 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage.
Last season Mazanec became the Admirals all-time AHL leader in games played (165), minutes (9,631) and saves (4,166). He is second in team AHL history with 82 wins and 11 shutouts.
The Admirals will kick off the 2017-18 campaign in Iowa against the Wild on Oct. 7. They will begin the home portion of the schedule on Friday, October 20th at 7 pm against the Hershey Bears at Panther Arena.
