Three Ads Alumni Chasing Stanley Cup
Milwaukee, WI—Three Admirals Alumni are still alive in the quest for the Stanley Cup as the National Hockey League begins the first round of the 2020 Playoffs from the bubble sites in Edmonton, AB and Toronto, ON.
Shea Weber (Montreal Canadiens), Samuel Girard (Colorado Avalanche), and Alexander Radulov (Dallas Stars) will look to become the 17th player to skate with the Admirals and have their named engraved on the sports most hallowed trophy. Patric Hornqvist, who won back-to-back Cups with the Penguins in 2016 and 2017, was the most recent to accomplish the feat.
Weber began his professional career with the Admirals during the 2005-06 season, skating in 46 games with the team that season while registering 12 goals and 15 assists in the regular season and then 11 points (6g-5a) in 14 post-season games as he helped Milwaukee reach the Calder Cup Finals.
Radulov followed with the Ads the year after Weber and while he only played 11 games with the team he averaged nearly two points per contest as he potted six goals and dished out 12 assists before earning a permanent role with Nashville.
Like Weber, Girard also began his professional career in Milwaukee, skating in six games and picking up his first pro goal with the club at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
The Stanley Cup will be awarded at the conclusion of the playoffs, which should be late September or early October.
