Seven Ads Alums to Skate in WCH
Milwaukee, WI—Three players from Team Sweden lead a group of seven Admiral alumni who will participate in the World Cup of Hockey, which kicks off in earnest Saturday, September 17 at the Air Canada Center in Toronto.
Forwards Filip Forsberg (Ads alum 2013-14) and Patric Hornqvist (2008-09) along with defenseman Mattias Ekholm (2012-13) will represent Team Sweden in the eight team international tournament that runs from September 17 to October 1st. Madison native and current Minnesota Wild defenseman Ryan Suter (2004-05) is the lone Admirals alum playing for Team USA.
In addition to those four, former Admirals Shea Weber (Team Canada), Roman Josi (Team Europe), and Pekka Rinne (Team Finland) will be playing in the WCH. It’s the first time the WCH has been conducted since 2004 and the third time overall.
The Admirals will kick off the 2016-17 home schedule by hosting the Iowa Wild on Saturday, October 29th at 6:00 pm at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
