Ads Tame Wolves, Move to 3-0
Chicago, IL--Goalie Juuse Saros stopped 30 shots to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 2-1 win over the Chicago Wolves at the Allstate Arena Wednesday night in Amtrak Rivalry action.
Saros was very busy in the third period as he stopped 14 shots on goal. The Admirals netminder helped his team kill seven of eight power play attempts against.
A power play goal by Milwaukee’s Austin Watson gave his team a 2-1 lead at 8:36 of the second period. It proved to be the winner. With seconds remaining in an Ads power play, Vladislav Kamenev whipped a pass from the left wing corner to the right circle. Watson measured it and wrsited a shot into the net for his first of the season. There was only :01 left in the man-advantage. Kamenev and Jack Dougherty recorded the helpers.
The game-winning-goal for Watson was the 20th in his Ads career.
Chicago claimed an early lead with a power play goal at 14:12 of the first period. Kenny Agostino’s shot from the top of the right circle bounced off a defender and into the net for his first goal of the season.
The Admirals tied the game just :39 later. Pontus Aberg shot the puck from the top of the right circle. Wolves goalie Pheonix Copley made a blocker save and the rebound was banged in by Ads captain Trevor Smith. It was Smith’s first goal as an Admiral. Aberg and Jimmy Oligny recorded the assists.
Milwaukee travels to Rockford to face the IceHogs Saturday. The Ads commence their home schedule on Saturday, October 29 at 6 pm when they host the Iowa Wild at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
