Ads Earn Point in SO Loss
Rockford, IL--Mark McNeill scored a goal in regulation and in the shootout to lead the Rockford IceHogs to a 3-2 shootout win over the Milwaukee Admirals Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
The loss spoiled a spectacular effort form Ads goalie Mark Visentin who stopped 34 shots in the shootout defeat. It was the first blemish on the Admirals record. Milwaukee is now 3-0-0-1 on the season, good for seven points in the standings.
The IceHogs scored a pair of goals in the shootout while Milwaukee was unable to score a single goal.
The IceHogs scored the first goal of the game at 6:25 of the second period when McNeill burst past a pair of Admirals defenders and slid a shot into the net for his first goal of the season.
Rockford grabbed a 2-0 lead at 14:20 of the second frame when Carl Dahlstrom corralled a loose puck at the middle of the Ads blue line and slapped a shot into the net for his first career goal.
The Admirals tied the game just :21 later. Felix Girard was able to secure a loose puck in front of the IceHogs goal and push it into the net for his first goal of the season. Alex Carrier and Adam Payerl recorded the helpers.
Milwaukee tied the game at 15:42 of the second period when Matt White whizzed a shot from the right circle over the glove of IceHogs netminder Lars Johanssen. Five players in Milwaukee’s lineup (Jonathan Diaby, White, Eric Robinson, Justin Kirkland and Visentin) were making their season debuts with the team due to a food poisoning incident with the Admirals parent club, Nashville. Milwaukee travels to Iowa to face the Wild Friday. The Ads commence their home schedule on Saturday, October 29 at 6 pm when they host the Wild at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
