Admirals Stay Hot, Calm Wild
Des Moines, IA--Four Admirals recorded multi-point games and goalie Marek Mazanec stopped 28 shots to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 5-2 win Sunday over the Iowa Wild at Wells Fargo Arena.

Mazanec improved to 5-0-0. He has allowed just two goals in each of his five AHL appearances.
For the second straight game, the Admirals scored the first goal. Salomaki played the puck from the left wing boards behind the Iowa net. Van Guilder received the puck then threaded a pass to Zach Budish in the slot for a one-timer that found the back of the net. The goal, scored at 3:18 of the first period, was the first of the season for Budish.
Iowa tied the game with 39 seconds remaining in the first period with a power play goal by Jason Zucker.
The Wild took a 2-1 lead just 45 seconds into the second period when Steven Kampfer skated the puck from behind his goal into the Admirals zone on the right wing and sent a wrist shot into the net for his first goal of the season.
Milwaukee tied the game with a power play goal with 36 seconds remaining in the second period. Salomaki had the puck on the right wing wall and found Taylor Beck at the left circle. Beck’s shot went over the right glove and just inside the right post for his third goal of the season (second on the power play). Joe Piskula also recorded an assist.
The two teams combined for 14 penalties worth 46 minutes in the second period, including three fighting majors per side.
The Admirals put the game away in the third period with three goals. First, Rodney scored his first as an Admiral with a slapshot from the slot over the right shoulder of Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson. The assists on the power play goal, scored at 2:55 of the third, went to Cehlin and Joonas Rask.
Cehlin scored his second of the season with a putback of a Rodney shot at 11:21 of the third period. Van Guilder recorded the secondary assist.
Van Guilder scored an empty-netter with 1:28 remaining, assisted by Anthony Bitetto, to close the scoring.
