Admirals to Honor Veterans on Nov. 15
Milwaukee, WI--In honor of Veterans Day, the Milwaukee Admirals are proud to offer free tickets to all veterans and active military personnel for their game Friday, November 15th. The Ads will be once again be battling their Amtrak Rivals, the Chicago Wolves at 7 pm at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
In addition, the Admirals will be honoring U.S. Army veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Gary George Wetzel at the game. Weztel is one of the few living Medal of Honor recipients in the state of Wisconsin and will drop the ceremonial first puck.
“It is an honor to host our annual Veterans Appreciation Night and to have Mr. Wetzel with us for this special occasion,” said Greenberg. “We are truly thankful for everything that these men and women have done for our country and the dedication that they have displayed. This is just a small token of our appreciation.”
Ten days before he was scheduled to finish his second tour in Vietnam, Wetzel was shot down for the fifth time. Even though he was critically wounded, he still went to the aid of his aircraft commander and displayed extraordinary heroism in his efforts to help his fellow crewman. His courageous actions reflect the highest traditions of the U.S. Army and the Armed Forces of his country. He was awarded with the Medal of Honor by President Lyndon Johnson in November of 1968 for his bravery and going above and beyond the call of duty.
In order to receive their ticket, veterans and active military should bring their military ID, American Legion or VFW Card, or a copy of the DD214 form to the Admirals office during regular business hours or to the BMO Harris Bradley Center Box office prior to the game. There is a limit of one ticket per veteran. This is the ninth consecutive season that the Admirals have made the offer in conjunction with Veterans Day.
