Carrier Wins in in OT Thriller

Milwaukee, WI—Alex Carrier scored the game-winner goal in overtime to cap a thrilling 5-4 victory for the Admirals over the Chicago Wolves in front of over 7,500 kids in the team’s first school day game at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

One game after scoring his first two professional goals Carrier was out on the ice killing off a penalty in OT when he gathered an outlet pass from Freddy Gaudreau, skated into the Chicago zone and fired a wrister from the top of the right circle that beat Wolves goalie Jordan Binnington glove side.

After going without a point in his first eight games as a pro, Carrier now has five points (3g-2a) in his past two contests.

Milwaukee has now won four straight games and have a 7-2-0-1 record through their first ten games of the campaign.

While, Carrier played the hero, but it took third goals from Kevin Fiala and Matt White to get the Ads to OT. Playing in his first game since being reassigned on from Nashville, Fiala found the rebound of a Trevor Smith shot to knot the score at two with 8:16 to play in the game. A Magnus Paajarvi PPG for Chicago gave them another lead, but White’s one-timer from the slot with under three minutes in the contest leveled the game at four to force OT.

Adam Payerl and Freddy Gaudreau each tallied goals to stake the Admirals to a 2-0 lead early in the second period. However, Chicago scored the next three, with two coming off the stick of Andrew Agozzino, to take a 3-2 lead 6:41 into the final frame.

In addition to Fiala, goalie Marek Mazanec was playing in his first game with Milwaukee this year since being sent down by the Preds earlier in the week. He earned the win after stopping 23 shots in the contest. It was his first game action he came on in relief for Nashville against Anaheim on October 26.

The Admirals are off until Saturday night when they face the Grand Rapids Griffins for the first time this year at the Panther Arena at 6 pm.
