Aronson's Four-Point Night Guides Ads
Rockford, IL--Defenseman Taylor Aronson notched four points and goalie Magnus Hellberg stopped 25 shots to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 4-1 win over the Rockford IceHogs Friday night.
The win allowed Milwaukee to stop Rockford’s eight-game winning streak.
Hellberg improved his record to 4-0-0 on the season. It was his first career win in eight decisions against the IceHogs.
Milwaukee got on the board first with a power play goal at 17:05 of the first period. Aronson fed a pass from the right point to the left circle for Viktor Arvidsson. Arvidsson’s snapshot was stopped but Miikka Salomaki crashed the net for the rebound and ended up in the net along with the puck. After a video review, Salomaki was awarded his second goal of the season. It was his first on the power play.
The Admirals claimed a 2-0 lead at 2:11 of the second period when defenseman Aronson’s shot found its way through traffic into there back of the net. It was Aronson’s first-career AHL goal and was assisted by Mike Liambas and Johan Alm.
Rockford was able to get one back when Phillip Danault’s snapshot from the slot found its way past Hellberg at 10:06 of the second period.
Salomaki scored another power play goal at 5:27 of the third period. Like the previous power play tally, Aronson passed the puck to Arvidsson at the left circle. Arvidsson’s slap shot deflected off the shin of Salomaki into the net for his second power play goal of the night.
Rockford pulled its goalie with 1:19 to play. In the waining seconds, Aronson blocked a shot from IceHogs defenseman T.J. Brennan and found Arvidsson, who fought his way past Brennan to there IceHogs blue line and shot the puck into the empty Rockford net for his fifth goal of the season with 36 seconds left in the game.
The Admirals return home to the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Saturday to host the IceHogs.
