Admirals Finish Weekend Strong
Milwaukee, WI—Playing their third game in three nights, the Milwaukee Admirals received goals from Juuso Puustinen, Chris Mueller, and Ryan Ellis, and limited the San Antonio Rampage to just 15 shots in a 3-1 win over the Rampage on Sunday afternoon at the Bradley Center.
The Admirals took a 1-0 lead on Puustinen’s team-leading eighth goal of the season at the 10:04 mark of the first. Kyle Wilson gathered the puck along the right boards and centered it to Puustinen, who ripped a one-timer over the shoulder of San Antonio goalie Brian Foster.
Chris Mueller made it 2-0 just over five minutes later. Ads forward Taylor Beck made a nice individual effort to shield the puck from Rampage defenseman Tyson Strachan and then chipped the puck from behind the net to the slot, where Mueller got just enough on it for the puck to trickle between Foster’s legs.
The two teams traded goals in the second, starting with a Rampage tally by former Admiral Bracken Kearns at 14:30 to trim the Milwaukee lead to one at 2-1. The Ads got that goal back with 3:07 to play in the stanza off a one-timer by Ryan Ellis from the slot three seconds after an Admiral power-play expired.
The third period saw little action as the Admirals played disciplined hockey and didn’t allow the Rampage any power-play opportunities in the finals stanza and limited San Antonio to just four shots over the final 20 minutes.
Milwaukee also saw another balanced scoring effort on the night as nine different players found the scoresheet and none had more than a point. After giving up four goals and being pulled on Friday night against Chicago, Admirals netminder Jeremy Smith has given up just one goal in each of the past two games. Tonight he stopped 14 shots to earn his ninth win.
The Admirals return to action next Saturday night, November 26 when they make their first ever trip to Charlotte to take on the Checkers.
