Pickard Earns First Professional Shutout
Admirals goalie Chet Pickard earned his first professional shutout with 31 saves to lead Milwaukee past the Texas Stars at the Cedar Park Center Friday, 2-0.
Pickard stopped 12 shots in the first period, three in the first 36 seconds, and showed poise throughout the night to earn his fifth win of the season.
Neither team scored until Texas veteran Brad Lukowich committed a turnover in the defensive zone. Admirals forward Hugh Jessiman grabbed the loose puck and crashed to the net, using his long reach to backhand the puck past Stars goalie Matt Climie with 2:13 left in the second period. The goal was unassisted.
Milwaukee got its insurance goal at 7:17 of the third when Wacey Rabbit played the puck to Mark Santorelli. The Admirals moved through the neutral zone 3-on-2. Santorelli passed left to Chros Mueller. Rabbit moved to the net, received a pass from Mueller and shot quickly past the stick of Climie.
The Admirals conclude the eight game road trip Saturday night against the San Antonio Rampage. Milwaukee’s next home game is December 2 when the Peoria Rivermen come to the Bradley Center.
