Kessel, Army Sign PTOs
Milwaukee, WI—The Admirals announced today that the team has signed defenseman Blake Kessel and forward Derek Army to professional try-out contracts (PTOs).
A Madison native, Kessel joins the Admirals after playing averaging more than a point per game with the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL. Kessel has 23 points on seven goals and 16 assists in just 22 games. He has played in 77 AHL games during his career with the Adirondack Phantoms, Rockford IceHogs, Rochester Americans, and Toronto Marlies. Kessel is the brother of Pittsburgh Penguins forward Phil Kessel.
Army has spent this season with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL where he has seven goals and four assists for 11 points in 18 games. A native of North Kingstown, RI, Army tallied three goals and dished out six assists in 36 AHL games last season between the Portland Pirates, Ontario Reign, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and Texas Stars.
Kessel and Army will join the Admirals in Cleveland as they continue their four-game road trip tonight against the Monsters at 5 pm CT at Quicken Loans Arena. Milwaukee returns home Sat., Dec. 10 to host the Chicago Wolves at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
