Admirals Trampled by Moose
Winnipeg, MB— Patrice Cormier scored twice and the Manitoba Moose peppered Milwaukee’s goal with 43 shots in a 6-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday at BellMTS Place.
The 43 shots are the second-most against Milwaukee in a game this season. Rockford totaled 44 against the Ads Nov. 11.
Milwaukee scored the first goal of the game for the first time in four games when Tyler Kelleher finished a two-on-one rush with Harry Zolnierczyk at 3:51 of the first period. Kelleher was able to tap Zolnierczyk’s saucer pass past Moose goalie Jamie Phillips for his seventh goal of the season.
The Moose scored three times in the second and were able to put 22 shots on goal, the most allowed by the Ads in a period this season. JC Lipon finished a two-on-one with his eighth goal of the season at 2:15 of the second. Cormier scored a shorthanded goal at 3:17 of the second and Mike Sgarbossa scored his ninth of the year at 14:26 of the frame.
Manitoba scored three more goals in the third period. Cameron Schilling scored from the left point with a shot through traffic at 2:44. Cormier tallied his second of the game at 7:53 and Chase Deleo closed the scoring with an unassisted goal at 10:51 of the final period.
Ads goalie Juuse Saros finished with 37 saves. Moose netminder Jamie Phillips stopped 32 in his first AHL action this season.
Milwaukee returns home Fri., Dec. 15 to host the Iowa Wild at Panther Arena.
