Admirals Earn Point in OT Loss
Milwaukee, WI--The Admirals earned a point in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Iowa Wild on Friday night at Panther Arena.
Returning to action after missing the past four games with an injury, Emil Pettersson's third period goal tied the score and helped to force overtime before Iowa's Sam Anas won it 55 seconds into the extra frame.
The Admirals got on the board first with a power-play goal from Captain Trevor Smith just 3:53 into the game. Smith's attempted to a backdoor pass to Harry Zolneirczyk, but the puck deflected off an Iowa defender's skate and into their net.
Iowa tied the game up on a jam-job of a loose puck by Christoph Bertschy at the 13:50 mark of the opening frame.
After Iowa took a lead in the second on a goal by Anas, Pettersson leveled the score for Milwaukee with his seventh tally of the year. Playing in his first game since December 1 because of an injury, Pettersson deflected a Trevor Murphy shot by Wild goalie Niklas Svedberg with 9:21 to play in the third.
However, Anas went bar-down for his second of the night 55 seconds into overtime to give the Wild the win.
Lindback suffered his first OT loss of the season despite stopping 32 shots.
The Admirals begin a four-game roadtrip Saturday night in Grand Rapids against the Griffins. They aren't home again until after Christmas, a December 27 fray against the Chicago Wolves at Panther Arena.
