Ads Fall to Wolves in OT
Keith Aucoin scored 27 seconds into overtime to push the Chicago Wolves to a 2-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday afternoon in Rosemont, IL.
The win gives Chicago a 7-4 lead in points in the Amtrak Rivalry. The loss snapped Milwaukee’s two-game winning streak. Still, the Admirals claimed five of a possible six points on the weekend (2-0-1-0).
Aucoin knocked the puck from center ice into the left corner of the Milwaukee zone. After a quick battle with Admirals defenseman Joonas Jarvinen, the puck came free to Wolves forward Alexandre Bolduc. Aucoin moved to the net, received the pass from Bolduc and slammed the puck past Ads netminder Magnus Hellberg to win the game.
Chicago claimed a lead at 8:31 of the second period. Pat Cannone skated from the left wing corner to the left point and moved to the slot. He sent a wristshot toward the net which was deflected by Wolves forward Mark Mancari past Hellberg for his eight goal of the season.
The Admirals tied the game at 14:41 of the second period. With Chicago defenseman Cade Fairchild in the penalty box for interference, Admirals defenseman Anthony Bitetto moved the puck in the defensive zone to the left circle for Bryan Rodney. Rodney spied Taylor Beck moving left to right at the Chicago blue line and hit him with a pass which Beck caught on his backhand. Beck moved toward the goal and fired a shot from inside the right circle that found the back of the goal. It was Beck’s seventh goal of the season and fourth on the power play. Rodney and Bitetto notched the assists.
The Admirals return to the ice Sunday afternoon at Chicago. The Ads return to home ice on Thursday, December 26th when the team hosts Grand Rapids at 7:00 pm.
