Cedarburg Tops Kettle Moraine 4-2
Freshman forward Evan Gabel scored Cedarburg’s first two goals and assisted on their third as the Bulldogs took a 4-2 win over the Kettle Moraine Lasers in the Admirals Cup on Friday afternoon at Wilson Park.
However it was Kettle Moraine who got on the board first, just 1:50 into the game when defenseman Sam Hart fired a wrister that found its way through traffic and past Cedarburg goalie Tyler Jansen. The Bulldogs evened the score at 13:01 of the first as Gabel lit the lamp with just two seconds remaining in a Kettle Moraine penalty.
The score would stay that way until late in the second period when Gabel scored his second of the game with 3:04 to play in the frame to give Cedarburg a lead they would not relinquish.
Tyler Fisher made it 3-1 at 5:13 Bulldogs at 5:13 of the third period, as he scored on assists from Jake Paulson and Gabel.
Matt Wickert made it a three-goal lead for the Bulldogs with an empty netter with 2:41 to play in the third. Kettle Moraine got one back when Justin Yute found the back of the net at 15:53, but the Lasers couldn’t get any closer, in spite of an extra attacker for the final 51 seconds.
Jensen earned the win for Cedarburg, turning aside 39 of the 41 shots he faced.
