WNS Storms Through Cedarburg
With a spot still to be decided for championship game of the Admirals Cup Cedarburg High School Bulldogs matched up against Whitefish Bay Nicolet Shorewood Storm on Monday afternoon. The Storm dominated as they would win by a score of 4-0. Sean Leahy shutdown the Bulldogs offensive attack recording 42 saves in the game.
WNS broke the scoreless game just over two minutes into the first period. The Storm capitalized on an arrant pass from the Bulldogs and Andy Krugler beat Tyler Jensen putting the Strom up 1-0.
It looked as if Cedarburg was going to tie the game up in the second period having multiple chances to score but Sean Leahy stopped every shot that came his way. WNS added to their lead at the 9:53 mark as Drew Kneisel beat Jensen. After two periods of play the Strom would lead 2-0.
WNS offense continued to dominate scoring five seconds into the third period on a Djordje Torbica breakaway goal from a center ice faceoff. WNS kept the pressure on the Bulldogs as the Storms lead grew to 4-0 after Thomas Aiken found Nick Sullivan in front of the net and scored on the one-timer.
The star of the game goes to Sean Leahy for WNS has he recorded 42 of saves in shutting out the Bulldogs.
In today’s consolation round games the Kettle Moraine Lasers beat the Arrowhead Warhawks 6-2 and the Germantown Ice Bears thumped the Greendale Ice Force in 10-4. Germantown will go onto play Kettle Moraine in the consolation round championship and the Ice Force will play Arrowhead in the loser’s bracket of the consolation round. Both games will be played at Wilson Park on Wednesday, December 28th.
WNS will face Marquette High School in the Championship game of the Admirals Cup AT 2:46 PM ON Wednesday December 28th at the Bradley Center. Cedarburg will face Brookfield Stars on Wednesday at 12:06 p.m. in the third place game at the Bradley Center.
