Day One of the Admirals Cup
Junior forward Nick Peterson and senior defenseman Jake Miller each scored a pair of goals to help Hartland Arrowhead pull off the upset of number one seeded Marquette University High School in game one of the Admirals Cup, presented by Bradley Corporation.
Playing on their home ice surface, the Warhawks took a 1-0 lead at the 9:35 mark of the first period when Peterson lit the lamp.
However, the Hilltoppers responded at the beginning of the second stanza on a goal from Alex Mikhailov.
Hartland responded later in the period when senior forward Brett Stapelfeldt created a turnover in the Marquette zone and scored an unassisted tally for a lead the Warhawks would not relinquish.
Miller scored twice in the third period, exactly one minute apart, to pump the Hartland lead to 4-1.
Marquette made it interesting with a goal from Jackson Weiss at 14:34 of the third, but the Warhawks sealed the deal with an empty netter from Peterson with 22 seconds left.
