Warhawks Tame the Storm
Milwaukee, WI-- The Milwaukee Admirals High School Hockey Showdown presented by Bradley Corporation continued Monday morning when the Arrowhead Warhawks took on the WNS Storm. The Warhawks picked up the win, with a 3-2 decision over the Storm.
The Warhawks got on the board 4:06 into the first period. Arrowhead forward Cal Essig scored short-handed on a breakaway giving the Warhawks an early 1-0 lead.
At 12:16 of the first, Arrowhead put another one past Storm goaltender Sean Leahy to put the Warhawks up 2-0. The Warhawks went on a two-on-one attack off a pass from Will Rieland. Brady Vassar centered the puck to Colton Sweitzer, who put the puck in.
Storm forward Joe Aiken snuck past the Warhawk defensemen to put WNS on the board at 6:34 of the second period. Drew Kneisel flung the puck up the ice to Aiken who fired a shot passed Warhawk goalie Nick Fisher to cut the Storm deficit in half.
Arrowhead forward Brady Vassar answered back at 10:58 in the second with an unassisted short-handed goal giving the Warhawks a 3-1 lead.
At 6:00 in the third period, Aiken put another tally on the board for the Storm scoring his second goal of the game. Aiken scored on the power play, firing the puck top-shelf. The goal was assisted by Nick Sullivan and Drew Kneisel, who recorded his second assist of the game.
Both teams play again Tuesday, December 28. The Arrowhead Warhawks take on the Marquette Hilltoppers at Wilson Park at 11 am, while the WNS Storm plays the Germantown Ice Bears at the Bradley Center at 12:06 pm.
