Admirals Drop OT Decision to Wild
Des Moines, IA--Forward Jordan Schroeder scored a pair of power play goals to lead the Iowa Wild to a come-from-behind 3-2 overtime win over the Milwaukee Admirals on Monday
Schroeder scored the game-winner at 2:24 of overtime with a wrist shot from the left circle during a 4-on-3 power play.
Milwaukee outshot Iowa 14-5 in the first period but the game was scoreless. The Admirals finally broke that drought with a power play goal at 11:48 of the second period. Admirals center Colton Sissons held the puck in at the right point with a flip to Ian White. White quickly passed to Viktor Arvidsson in the left circle. Arvidsson sailed a wrist shot into the net for his eighth goal of the season, his fifth on the power play.
The Wild tied the game at 4:16 of the third period when Marc Hagel circled the Admirals net and fed Zack Mitchell for a quick shot from the left post.
Arvidsson gave the Ads the lead at 7:56 of the third period. He was sprung on a breakaway when a pass from the left wing corner went through the skates of Wild defenseman Justin Falk. Arvidsson deked right and slid the puck past a prone Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson for his ninth goal of the season at 7:56 of the third period.
Schroeder scored a power play goal, his first of the game, off a rebound with 3:44 to play to tie the game at two.
Admirals goalie Marek Mazanec stopped 25 shots in the loss.
Milwaukee’s returns to the BMO Harris Bradley Center to host Lake Erie Tuesday, December 30 at 7 pm.
