Admirals Shutout by Griffins
Jared Coreau stopped all 23 shots in goal to lead the Grand Rapids Griffins to a 3-0 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Thursday night in Grand Rapids, MI.
The loss snapped Milwaukee’s five-game winning streak. It was the second time the Admirals were shutout this season, both by Coreau and the Griffins.
Admirals goalie Marek Mazanec stopped 33 of 35 shots in the loss.
Grand Rapids broke through with the first goal of the game at 11:33 of the second period. Griffins forward Anthony Mantha forced a turnover in the Admirals zone. He passed from the corner into the slot where Mark Zengerle left the puck for his teammate Eric Tangradi to put into the net. The goal was Tangradi’s 14th of the season.
Griffins captain Jeff Hoggan gave his team a 2-0 lead with a goal at 14:09 of the third period. Louis-Marc Aubry scored an empty-netter before the final horn to close the scoring.
