Admirals Top Wolves in Pre-Season Action
Vernon Hills, IL—James Sixsmith and Shane Willis each scored a pair of goals and Rich Peverley added three assists as the Milwaukee Admirals topped the Chicago Wolves 8-4 Wednesday night in pre-season AHL action at the Glacier Ice Arena in Vernon Hills, IL.
Sixsmith, a rookie out of Holy Cross, tallied the first goal of the game 2:06 into the fray to give Milwaukee a 1-0 lead. However, two Chicago goals later in the first gave the Wolves a 2-1 advantage after the first period.
The Admirals broke the game open in the second with four unanswered markers that gave them commanding 5-2 lead. Sixsmith and Willis lit the lamp for the Ads along with Tyler Howells and Oliver Setzinger.
Conrad Martin, Antti Pihlstrom, and Willis all found the back of the net for Milwaukee in the third period.
Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 12 of 14 shots during the first and second periods for the Admirals before giving way to Jamie Hodson, who swatted aside seven of nine Chicago shots.
Milwaukee continues pre-season action tomorrow night with a 7:00 pm tilt against the Lake Erie Monsters at the Mullett Center in Hartland, WI before finishing their exhibition slate this Saturday versus the Wolves at 7:00 pm at the Kern Center on the campus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Admirals will open the 2007-08 season in Peoria on October 6th with the home opener slated for Friday, October 12th at 7:00 pm against the Quad City Flames at the Bradley Center.
