Homestead Trumps Arrowhead
Milwaukee, WI- The Afternoon game of the Admirals Cup presented by the Bradley Corporation pinned two familiar opponents together in Arrowhead vs Homestead at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in what turned out to be a lop-sided affair.
Homestead got on the board first with a flurry of offense late in period number one. With 5 minutes left, they executed a well-designed power play attack finishing with a goal from Cole Simpson with assists from Joseph Verespej and Joey Hobbs. Less than a minute later, Sean Driscoll got on the board with a beautiful back hand shot past Arrowhead goaltender JJ Gerlach. Verespej tacked on another power play goal with 2 minutes left in the first, and Cole DeStefanis added another to take a commanding 4-0 Homestead lead heading to the locker room after the first period.
Arrowheads troubles wouldn’t end there however. After taking two penalties in a row midway through the second, Homestead netted their fifth of the day with a goal from Hobbs on the two man advantage. The opportunities kept coming for Homestead, and so did the goals. Sean Driscoll found the back of the net and Cole Simpson got his second of the game late in the second period.
Arrowhead would not be completely discouraged however, as they were able to beat Homestead goaltender David Hathaway twice in the third period with goals from Zach Hopkins and Ben Dvorak.
All in all, Homestead outshot Arrowhead 49-17 in what turned out to be a 7-2 victory.
Both teams are back in action Monday at the Mullett Center as Homestead takes on DePere at 11am and Arrowhead battles Marquette at 3pm.
