Admirals Run Over by Wolves
Rosemont, IL— Stefan Matteau scored a hat trick to lead the Chicago Wolves to a 4-1 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals Friday at Allstate Arena.
The loss was Milwaukee’s fifth straight.
The Wolves scored a power play goal at 13:03 of the first period to claim a 1-0 edge. Stefan Matteau’s shot from the slot went over the left hand of Ads netminder Anders Lindback for Matteau’s ninth goal of the season.
Matteau’s power play goal moved the streak of Milwaukee’s penalty kill allowing at least one goal to eight straight games.
Matteau completed the natural hat trick with a pair of goals in the second period to give Chicago a 3-0 lead. The first of the period was scored on a breakaway from the Wolves blue line at 11:58. The hat trick goal came from the right circle at 14:31.
The Admirals finally got on the board at 19:05 of the second period. Anthony Richard grabbed a loose puck in the Wolves zone and sent a shot on goal from the slot. The rebound kicked off the pads of the goalie to PC Labrie in the left circle and he planted it for his fourth goal of the year.
Chicago closed the scoring with an empty-net goal by Paul Thompson at 19:43 of the third period.
Lindback finished with 28 saves on 31 shots. Wolves goalie Kasimir Kaskisuo turned aside 19 shots for the win.
