Admirals Sign Grant, Madore to AHL Deals

 

Milwaukee, WI—The Milwaukee Admirals announced today that they have signed forward Triston Grant and goaltender Rob Madore to AHL contracts for the 2014-15 season.

Grant returns to the Admirals, having played two seasons in Milwaukee from 2008-10. During that time, the left wing produced 15 goals and contributed 36 points while also totaling 389 penalty minutes, including a team-high 236 PIMs during the 2009-10 season. During the 08-09 campaign he was one of just four players in the AHL to post at least 150 PIMs (153) and a rating of +10 or better (+11).

The Neepawa, MB native spent the last two season playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he helped the Griffs capture the Calder Cup during the 2012-13 campaign. This past year Grant scored six goals and added 10 assists for 16 points in 51 games.

In nine professional seasons Grant, who can be found on Twitter at @frozenturks23, has played in 561 AHL games with the Admirals, Griffins, Philadelphia Phantoms, Rochester Americans, and Oklahoma City Barons and 11 NHL contests split between Philadelphia Flyers and Nashville Predators.

Madore joins the Admirals after guiding the Cincinnati Cyclones, the Ads ECHL affiliate, to the 2014 Kelly Cup Finals, where he was selected as the playoff MVP after posting a 14-7-3 mark with a 2.29 goals against average and .930 save percentage. He became the first player in ECHL history to win the award as a member of the losing team.

The 26-year old Pittsburgh native played a combined eight games with the San Antonio Rampage and Charlotte Checkers last year, including three against the Admirals. In those three contests he went 1-1 allowing five goals on 51 shots. In 17 career AHL games Madore has a 6-7 record while posting a .933 save percentage and allowing 2.32 goals per game.
