Details Set for Hockey Fights Cancer
Milwaukee, WI—Admirals President Jon Greenberg announced that the team will host their second Hockey Fights Cancer Night, benefitting ABCD (After Breast Cancer Diagnosis), when the team hosts the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday, November 23 at 6 pm at Panther Arena.
The game will feature a moving pre-game ceremony where the players and coaches from both teams and the referees will line up on the ice and display their “I Fight For…” signs that show the name(s) of people their lives who have been effected by cancer.
In addition, all fans who come to the game will receive one of the “I Fight For…” signs and they are encouraged to fill them out and hold them up along with the players, coaches and referees. Fans can click here to download their own sign ahead of time.
The team will have a number of special opportunities to help raise money for ABCD. These include:
• During warm-ups for 5 games in November, Admirals players will be wearing Hockey Fights Cancer inspired jerseys. These jerseys will go up for auction on Sunday, October 6th and end on Sunday, October 13th. Auction winners will be able to put a name of a loved one on the back of the jersey and meet the player after the game on November 23rd. Bid here → http://admirals.gesture.com.
• For each ticket purchased here the team will donated $4.
• Special lavender pucks that feature the Admirals and Hockey Fights Cancer logos. These pucks will be autographed by an Ads player and available for purchase for $20 each via a grab bag at Fan Services, which is located on the concourse outside section 228.
About ABCD Milwaukee
In 1999, a group of women – led by Melodie Wilson Oldenburg – founded ABCD because they realized having breast cancer is about much more than medical procedures. Most were breast cancer survivors who discovered that the most valuable information and support came from peers – others in similar life circumstances with similar disease experiences. They also understood two other essential truths. Cancer affects loved ones as well as patients. And, providing high quality peer support takes more than good intentions; it takes preparation and ongoing support for those helping others – especially as the breast cancer experience changes.
About Hockey Fights Cancer
Since its inception in 1998, Hockey Fights Cancer – a joint initiative by the National Hockey League (NHL) and National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) – has resulted in donations of more than $20 million to support national and local cancer research institutions, children’s hospitals, player charities, and local charities. Hockey Fights Cancer is also a program of both the National Hockey League Foundation (in the U.S.) and NHL Foundation (in Canada). Lavender, the official color of Hockey Fights Cancer, represents all cancers and will be featured prominently throughout the campaign. To join the conversation, use the official hashtag #HockeyFightsCancer.
