Smith Reigns as Mustache Champion

All the votes have been tallied and the results are in, Jeremy Smith’s mustache edged out Zack Stortini’s by a whisker. During the month of November the Milwaukee Admirals President Jon Greenberg and players Victor Bartley, Taylor Beck, Ryan Ellis, Ryan Flynn, Jeremy Smith, Zack Stortini, and Scott Valentine grew out their mustaches and documented their progress several times per week, which are posted here.

“It was a hard fought battle, especially against a guy like Zack who can grow a stache in a few days. But the Greaser came out on top,” said Smith about his mustache. “I also have to give credit to my intimidating poses. They no doubt flipped some votes.” To see Jeremy’s time lapse video click here.

The mustache contest was part of a greater campaign effort to raise money for the American Cancer Society (ACS) and prostate cancer research and prevention, as well as in conjunction with Movember. For every vote counted the Admirals organization donated $5 and combined with other efforts collected $4,634 in donations.
“This contest was a lot of fun for everyone that participated, and we feel really good about our contribution,” said Greenberg. “The organization was able to raise over $4,600 for the American Cancer Society and also raise awareness for prostate cancer.”

The ACS saves lives and creates a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back. The ACS is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the ACS has 12 chartered Divisions, more than 900 local offices nationwide, and a presence in more than 5,100 communities. To learn more about the ACS click here.

Tomorrow night the Admirals face off against divisional opponents the Peoria Rivermen. It will be the Admirals second game with new head coach Ian Herbers at the helm. To purchase tickets click here.
