Ads Top Eagles in OT

Milwaukee, WI—Joakim Kemell scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Admirals to a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Eagles on Saturday night at Panther Arena.

The winning play in the 3-on-3 extra session began when Tanner Molendyk intercepted a Colorado pass, got tripped but had the presence of mind to chip the puck ahead to Kemell. Kemell raced in 2-on-1 with Felix Nilsson, looked off Colorado goalie Kikita Novoselov and fired a rocket over his shoulder.

It was the first goal of the season for Kemell and his first OT tally since March 30, 2024 against Grand Rapids.

Making his first start of the season for the Ads, Matt Murray stopped 25 of the 26 shots he saw, including 11 in the third period and OT to earn the victory.

The Eagles grabbed an early 1-0 advantage when Tristen Nielsen scored on the power-play just 2:59 into the contest.

The score would stay that way for nearly 40 minutes before Milwaukee tied things up with a power-play goal of their own. Felix Nilsson rimmed the puck forcing Colorado netminder Nikita Novoselov to go behind the net to play it. However the puck glanced off the glass and past Novoselov and right to Martin, who had a wide open net for his third of the season.

That was the end of the scoring for the remainder of regulation, setting the stage for Kemell’s heroics.

The Admirals hit the road for their first visit of the season to Des Moines to take on the Wild on Wednesday night. Their next home game isn’t until Sunday, October 25th when they host Chicago at 1 pm at Panther Arena.
