Game Two Goes to the IceHogs

Milwaukee, WI— The Admirals out shot Rockford 31-19 but couldn’t solve IceHogs netminder Drew Commesso in a 6-1 loss in game two of the Central Division Semifinals. The Ads now trail the best-of-5 series two games to none with game three set for Wednesday night in Rockford.

The Hogs maintained the momentum from their game one win as they jumped out to an early lead in the first period, following a turnover in the Admirals’ zone, Samuel Savoie set up Joey Anderson, who scored his second goal of the postseason. With a minute left in the period, Anderson added another, finishing a pass from Brett Seney to give them a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Just 1:02 into the second period, Rockford extended their lead when Joey Anderson completed the hat trick with a power-play marker.

The Admirals got their only goal of the game when defenseman Marc Del Gaizo dangled past Rockford defender Artyom Levshunov and beat goaltender Drew Commesso glove side. It was Del Gaizo’s first goal of the postseason and his ninth career playoff goal. However, Rockford answered back as Savoie carried the puck coast to coast, catching the Admirals on the break, and beat goaltender Matt Murray for a 4-1 advantage.

The last twenty didn’t play out for the Ads. With about four minutes left the Ads pulled Murray in favor of an extra attacker but Rockford capitalized and scored as Brett Seney scored an empty netter to give them a 5-1 lead. Aidan Thompson finished the scoring, bringing the final score to 6-1.

The Admirals will look to extend their season at the BMO Center on Wednesday, May 7th at 7 pm.
