Ads Fall to Marlies

Toronto, ON— Forward Alex Steeves scored with 4:29 remaining in regulation to lift the Toronto Marlies to a 3-2 win over the Admirals Tuesday at Coca-Cola Coliseum.

The loss was Milwaukee’s second straight, dropping the Ads to 1-2-0-0 on the season.

Steeves fired the puck from the right circle past the glove of Ads goalie Troy Grosenick at 15:31 of the third to give the Marlies the game-winner.

The Marlies scored a pair of first period goals in a span of 1:17 to grab a 2-0 lead after the first twenty minutes. Nick Abruzzese received a feed near the crease from Ryan Tverberg and directed the puck into the goal at 7:57 of the first frame. Kyle Clifford converted after receiving a feed in the left circle at 9:14 to give Toronto the 2-0 advantage.

Milwaukee tied the score in the second period with a pair of goals. First, Joakim Kemell forced a turnover in the Admirals zone and skated out with Denis Gurianov on a 2-on-1 break. Kemell fed a pass to Gurianov in Toronto’s left circle and Gurianov tapped it right back for Kemell to shoot into an open net for his first of the year at 8:42.

Forward Zach L’Heureux scored his first professional goal at 19:24 of the second period. Mark Jankowski fed a pass from the left wing boards into the right circle. L’Heureux reached back to receive the pass, spun counter-clockwise and lifted a backhander over the glove of Toronto’s goalie. Anthony Angello was also awarded an assist.

Grosenick finished with 27 saves in his first appearance of the season.

Milwaukee will visit Belleville Wednesday night. The Admirals return home Sat., Oct. 28 to play host to the Iowa Wild at Panther Arena.
