Cleveland, OH–Joakim Kemell scored twice and Isak Posch stopped 19 shots to lead the Admirals to a 4-1 win over the Cleveland Monsters Saturday at Rocket Arena.
The win snapped Milwaukee’s five-game winless skid (0-4-1-0) at Cleveland, dating back to Dec. 4, 2021.
Milwaukee grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first period. Joey Willis scored his first goal of the season at 4:10 when he received a pass from Brady Martin and sped into the zone past Cleveland defenseman Guillaume Richard. Willis’ initial shot was stopped, but he was able to flip the rebound over the left leg of goalie Pheonix Copley.
Defenseman Hunter Skinner scored his first goal as an Admiral at 14:33 of the first frame. In the midst of a scramble at the Cleveland goal, Felix Nilsson sent a backhand pass from the right circle to the left for a Skinner one-timer. Nilsson and Aiden Fink assisted on the tally.
Kemell boosted the Admirals lead to 3-0 at 7:25 of the second period. Skinner’s shot from the right circle was deflected off a Monsters defender to Kemell. Kemell was alone in front of the goal and backhanded the puck into the net. It was Kemell’s third goal of the season.
The Monsters spoiled the shutout bid by Posch with 4:23 remaining in the game. Owen Sillinger deflected a shot into the net for his first goal of the year.
After Cleveland got on the board, the team pulled goalie Copley but Kemell scored into the empty net at 16:52 to close the scoring. Daniel Nieminen and Cole O’Hara assisted. The assist moved O’Hara’s points streak to five games.
Milwaukee will visit Grand Rapids Fri., Nov. 6. The Admirals will host Iowa at Panther Arena Nov. 7.
