Milwaukee, WI—Cole O’Hara scored the lone goal for the Admirals during regulation/overtime and then was the only player on either squad to score in the shoot-out to guide the team to a 2-1 win over Chicago on Sunday afternoon.
In net, Matt Murray made 19 saves to earn his third win in as many starts on the season and collect his 90th career AHL victory. He has allowed just four goals in his three contests this year.
The Admirals poured a season-high 40 shots on goal in the contest and have 73 in the home-and-home set against the Wolves this weekend.
The Admirals got on the board first when O’Hara scored 7:30 into the opening frame. Tyson Jost found O’Hara in the high slot and his quick release beat Chicago netminder Zack Sawchenko over the left shoulder for his second goal in as many nights.
Chicago would level the score at one 2:09 into the second period as Viktor Neuchev potted his second goal of the season.
That would do it for the scoring for the remainder of regulation and overtime. Following misses by the first two shooters, O’Hara come in slowly from left side on Sawchenko before firing a wrister low, glove side. Murray followed that up by stopping the Wolves Felix Unger Sorum and Chase Wheatcroft to give the Ads their first shoot-out win of the season.
The Admirals will host Manitoba on Wednesday, October 28th at 7 pm at Panther Arena before heading out on a three-game roadtrip.
