Ads Fall to Wolves for Second Straight

The Chicago Wolves defense stifled the Milwaukee Admirals en route to a 6-1 win Saturday night at Allstate Arena.

Milwaukee was held to 19 shots on goal and didn’t score until 1:09 remained in the contest. Chicago recorded 37 shots on net.

The lone goal for the Admirals came at 18:51 of the third period when Joseph LaBate pushed the puck into the net after receiving a feed from Cody Glass. Glass was behind the net and slid the puck between the goalmouth and Wolves goalie Alex Lyon to LaBate. It was LaBate’s second goal of the season.

The loss marked the first time the Admirals lost by five-or-more goals since a 6-0 loss at Iowa Nov. 16, 2018.

The Wolves scored all they would need as they scored three first period goals in a span of 93 seconds. The Wolves got on the board at 16:46. David Gust ripped a shot along the left wing goal line that sailed over the shoulder of goalie Devin Cooley to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead.

Chicago made it 2-0 at 17:52 of the first frame when Stefan Noesen slid a rebound between the legs of Cooley for his first goal of the season. The Wolves scored another to make it 3-0 when Maxim Letunov received a pass in the slot from the left post and shot the puck into an open goal at 18:19.

The Wolves extended the lead to 4-0 when Poturalski scored a power play marker at 4:47 of the second period. That goal ended the night for Milwaukee goalie Devin Cooley, who stopped nine of 13 shots for the Admirals. Parker Gahagen entered in relief for his Admirals debut.

The Wolves added a pair of goals in the third period. Stelio Mattheos scored at 1:09 and C.J. Smith tallied at 13:57.

The Admirals will host the Wolves again at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena Fri., Oct. 29 at 7 pm.
