Ads Gain Second Road Win

Matt Luff scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 5-2 win over the Rockford IceHogs Friday at BMO Harris Bank Center.

Milwaukee hasn’t lost in regulation at Rockford since Feb. 12, 2017. Milwaukee is 17-0-2-0 at BMO Harris Bank Center since then, and 28-4-5-0 against the IceHogs, overall, since that date.

After starting the season 0-7-0-0 on the road, the Admirals have now won two straight away from UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

Milwaukee scored early in the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Defenseman Matt Tennyson received a pass in the right circle and fired a shot past IceHogs net minder Arvid Soderblom at 1:41. It was Tennyson’s second goal of the season. Luff and David Farrance earned the assists.

The Admirals grabbed a 2-0 lead at 9:34 of the first period when Michael McCarron buried a rebound of an Anthony Richard wraparound attempt. It was McCarron’s first goal of the year. Richard and Farrance recorded the helpers.

Rockford got on the board at 16:49 of the first frame when Alec Regula’s shot from the right point went into the goal for his first tally of the season.

Milwaukee extended its lead to 3-1 with a power play marker at 15:29 of the second period. The teams formed a huge pile in front of Soderblom but nobody’s could find the puck. Eventually, Luff did and he snapped the puck into the empty net from the right circle for his fifth goal of the season (third on the power play). Cody Glass and Mitch McLain were given the assists on the goal.

Rocco Grimaldi scored his 5th goal of the season on a breakaway from the blue line, tucking the puck into the net at 13:48 of the third period. Cole Schneider and Joseph LaBate earned the assists.

Mathieu Olivier scored an empty-net goal at 16:36 of the third period to give the Ads a 5-1 lead.

The IceHogs Ian Mitchell scored from the left point at 17:55 of the third period to close the scoring.

Admirals goalie Connor Ingram stopped 19 shots to earn the victory.

The Admirals visit Rockford again Sun., Nov. 28. Milwaukee returns home Wed., Dec. 1 to host the IceHogs at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
