Ads Get Point in SO Loss

Des Moines, IA–The Iowa Wild defeated the Admirals 2-1 in a shootout Saturday at Casey’s Center.

In the shootout, two Iowa shooters scored against Milwaukee goalie Magnus Chrona. Milwaukee’s two shooters were stopped by Iowa goalie Cal Petersen.

The Admirals have lost eight straight shootout games over the last two seasons. Milwaukee’s last shootout win was Apr. 12, 2024 against Chicago.

Milwaukee scored the first goal of the game :52 into the second period. Milwaukee was breaking out of its zone on the right wing when Reid Schaefer chipped the puck off the boards to Jake Lucchini. Lucchini went ahead on a 2-on-1 break with Ryder Rolston. When Lucchini hit the right circle in Iowa’s zone, he snapped a shot into the goal for his 13th marker of the season. Schaefer and Kevin Gravel assisted.

Iowa tied the game at 18:26 of the third period when Ben Jones slapped a rebound into the net to make it 1-1.

Milwaukee will return to Historic UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena to host the Grand Rapids Griffins Tues., Feb. 3.
