Lukas Reichel scored the game-winner in the third period to lead the Rockford Icehogs to a 3-2 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday at BMO Harris Bank Center.

Reichel was able to slap a loose puck high into the goal after Michal Teply and Andrei Altybarmakian entered the Admirals zone on a 2-on-1 break. Admirals goalie Devin Cooley made the initial stop but Reichel roofed the game-winner at 11:02 of the third period.

Rockford blitzed the Admirals to start the game, outshooting Milwaukee 8-0 in the first 4:30. The IceHogs scored the first goal of the game when Teply put in a rebound of his own shot at 1:45 of the first frame.

Milwaukee’s first shot, and goal, took place at 4:42 of the first period. Tommy Novak skated into the Rockford zone and laced a wrist shot into the net from the right circle for his fifth goal of the season. Cole Smith and Grant Mismash assisted on the goal which tied the game 1-1.

The Admirals claimed the lead with a power play goal at 6:02 of the first period. Matt Donovan skated to the left circle and slid a pass to Smith in the right circle. He one-timed a slap shot into the goal for his 14th marker of the season, fifth on the power play.

The IceHogs tied the game at 6:53 when Brett Connolly, who appeared in his 700th professional hockey game, tapped in a pass at the right post to make the score 2-2.

Cooley stopped 29 shots in the loss.

The Admirals continue a four-game road trip Friday at Texas. Milwaukee returns home Fri., Apr. 1 to host the Chicago Wolves at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
