Ads lose 4th Straight

Goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 37 shots to lead the Grand Rapids Griffins to a 4-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Saturday night at Van Andel Arena.

The Admirals have now lost four straight games and have been held to just six goals in those four losses.

Milwaukee scored the first goal of the game with a power play marker at 1:34 of the first period. David Farrance intercepted a clearing attempt, skated to the left face-off dot and ripped a wrist shot through a screen into the net for his first career professional goal. It was the first time the Admirals opened the scoring in five games this season.

Grand Rapids scored the next three goals in a span of 3:23. The Griffins tied the game at 8:59 of the first period when Jonatan Berggren sent a shot from the right circle past a screen and into the goal. Grand Rapids took the lead when Kyle Criscuolo scored on a breakaway from the Admirals blue line at 11:04. The Griffins completed the first period scoring at 12:22 thanks to a Chase Pearson goal.

Pearson closed the scoring with an empty-net goal at 17:04 of the third period.

Admirals goalie Parker Gahagen stopped 26 shots in his first Admirals start.

It was Milwaukee’s first visit to Van Andel Arena since Dec. 27, 2019.

The Admirals will host the Manitoba Moose at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena Fri., Nov. 5 at 7 pm.
